Meet Our Founder: Katherine Sarah Deschene,
CGS, LMHC
Grief Honored, Both Personal and Professional

Katherine's path to Safe Nest Therapy, LLC was built across a bridge of years of education, lifelong counseling work and personal loss. It wasn't forged in lecture halls; it was born in the quiet, heavy stillness of her own grief following the loss of her child. Although no two losses are the same, she knows the pain of loss and trauma. Katherine founded Safe Nest Therapy, LLC because she understands the suffocating weight of a sudden loss and the long, non-linear journey of learning to carry it. She has sat where you are, wondering if the air will ever feel light again, and she wants you to know you are not alone. She is often quoted as saying "Perhaps we cannot subtract pain, but rather add joy". Her life's mission is to help you see a glimmer of light on an often unlit winding path with an unknown destination.
Katherine also understands that grief and trauma come in many forms. It may be through abuse, neglect, catastrophic injury, a job loss, suffering in a toxic work enviroment, pet loss, divorce/marital struggles, early attachment trauma, a school change, or a bullying situation that has left you grieving your self worth. Sometimes we are fine and then the next minute, we are crying in the supermarket and wondering why. Katherine will not try to erase your pain or neglect your grief, trauma or life stressor. Rather she will sit with you so you may feel safe to take a step toward hope.
Welcome to Safe Nest Therapy, LLC! We are so happy you have made the first, and often most difficult step, gently allowing yourself the permission to take care of you! We look forward to supporting you on your journey. Congratulations!
